March 28, 2011 - PODS Enterprises selects Blackhawk Transport to be its dedicated carrier for their Hub and Spoke Operation in Portage, Indiana
Beloit, Wisconsin (March 28, 2011) - Blackhawk Transport, Inc. announced today they will be the dedicated carrier for PODS Enterprises, Inc.’s Hub and Spoke Operation at the PODS facility in Portage, Indiana. Operations are set to begin on May 2, 2011.
“We have awarded this three year dedicated contract to Blackhawk, based on the smooth start up of the dedicated road fleet and the value, cost and service solutions proposed by the company,” announced PODS Director of Logistics Brian Farris.
Blackhawk Transport will provide on-site management, dedicated drivers and equipment, as well as maintenance services on the PODS containers.
“We are excited to partner with PODS, the market growth leader in the moving and storage industry, and the opportunity to grow based on our operational performance,” says Blackhawk Transport President and CEO Mike Holloway.
Blackhawk’s solution for PODS involves the local pick-up and delivery operation for Chicago, which allows for consolidation in Portage, Indiana. The dedicated Blackhawk road fleet runs continuous moves, delivery to various warehouses across the country, picking up loaded PODS from the warehouses or empty PODS that need to be relocated back to the Chicago market. This continuous movement allows for high driver and equipment utility at a lower total cost than One-Way Carriers. The value added proposal also involves driver tracking and warehouse direct ETA notifications as well as daily KPI reporting.
In addition, Blackhawk provides maintenance on out-of-service containers at the Hub and Spoke location, once a struggle for PODS. The company also identified the need to place a manager on-site to work directly with PODS staff ensuring proper customer service communication and oversight of drivers and mechanics.
